Lush Herbalism Face Cleanser Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

I'm going to be reviewing the Herbalism Face Cleanser from Lush this time, which they gave me as a sample last time I went into Lush.
Previously, I've tried the Dark Angels face cleanser and actually really liked it!
They told me this would be good for my acne prone skin, and the girl told me it was her favourite thing from the store. Most people tell me their favourite is Ocean Salt, so when she said hers was this, I thought it must be good!

They gave it to me in just the standard little black pot. They usually don't hold more than a weeks worth of samples, depending how often you use the product.

Upon opening it, you can obviously tell it's green. Duh.
It also has a weird texture. I guess I was too used to the Dark Angels, so the texture put me off. It reminds me of some nasty baby food.
AND THE SMELL.
It smells like baby food too. I can't stand the smell, but it's not strong enough to make me gag at least.
So that's a plus. Kinda.

One thing I hate about the samples is that they don't have expiration dates or directions on how to use them. But I figured I would just add a little water after I pinched out a small amount and mix it together to make a paste, again like Dark Angels.
Nope. It felt so weird and was really hard to spread all over my face.

It's really crumbly, with or without water.
I added some with water here, and rubbed it in, but it just clumps up and insists on staying in a glob.
But it's weird.
I hate the smell. I hate the way it goes on my skin.
But I love the finished product. It's enough to be a cleanser and a scrub for me, which is awesome. But because of the texture, it leaves my skin feeling really soft, which is what I aim for.

I don't use this sample every day, so I don't know how it works as a daily cleanser. But I do like what I've tried so far.

The verdict!
I rate it a 6/10.
The smell and texture bother me SO much. But it does work.
I feel like maybe if I had a proper batch of it, it might work better for me.
I'll definitely be purchasing this sometime in the future once I've used up my many cleansers and scrubs.

I hope you all liked this product, and found it helpful. :3

Etude House Sun Prise Natural Corrector Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Today I'm going to be reviewing the Etude House Sun Prise: Natural Corrector!
I bought this on a whim off eBay one day, wanting something with SPF in it as my moisturizer at the time didn't have any.

I got a few samples of various products when I ordered this, as you usually do with any Korean brand makeup items.
I actually found this to be pretty cute though. I liked the picture and detailing on the front, and the pink lid was pretty adorable.
But unfortunately, it's not a flip cap. It's a twist off, which bothers me a little, but I've gotten used to it.

Another reason I bought this; it claims to help whiten your skin, which I prayed was true. I have horrendous acne scars, and I'm always looking for things to help with that.
The other two claims are that it helps protect you from the sun, while moisturizing. So basically, it's like a bb cream, without the coverage.

When you squirt some out, it's an extremely light shade of pink. But when you rub it in, it's transparent.
The smell reminds me of roses and sunscreen. It doesn't linger though, thank goodness. I don't want people smelling my face while I'm at work.

I'm not going to lie and say this is my holy grail item, or that I use it every day, because I don't.
I usually only use it if I know I'm going to be outside, and it's going to be hot, or if I'm not wearing any makeup at all and want it to blur everything a little.
I usually for the most part don't even pack this with me when I leave for the weekends.

So why don't I use this everyday?
I actually really like the product. It doesn't feel heavy or greasy on my skin, and I don't even notice it's there. But it protects my skin, which I like!

This is just an iffy item for me, most likely because I'm actually really lazy when it comes to this. It takes less than a minute to apply, but my makeup storage is currently out of control, so I have this buried with random items that I never use, so I never think of using it.
But I do really like it!

So, what do I rate this product?
I rate it a solid 8/10!
I feel like if this had a pump or a flip cap, I would like it that much more. But it's still pretty good.
And you get a lot of product for only paying a little bit for it.
I think I paid around $8-10 for this, and the samples helped too. :3

I hope you all liked this review! :3
Post in the comments if you've tried this item, or anything else from Etude House!!!

Freeman's Facial Exfoliating Pink Grapefruit Scrub Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Today I'm going to be reviewing a scrub I picked up a few months ago, the Freeman's Facial Exfoliating Pink Grapefruit Scrub!
I've tried a couple of their other products, and have liked everything so far. So I figured I would try this out.

I think one of the things that got me, other than the colour, was the scent.
I love citrus scented things, especially when I use them in the morning. They help wake me up and I find my skin looks brighter too!

Most of the scrubs I use are pretty exfoliating. But this is more like a gel scrub, with little pink scrubby bits. But there isn't a lot, and I didn't find it very abrasive. I was extremely disappointed, as I like scrubbing my face in the morning to get rid of any dull skin I have.

I put it to the side after just one use, because it wasn't for me.

But then something miraculous happened!!
I got my hands on a Clarisonic Mia 2, and wanted to try different products with it.
I ended up trying this after remembering I even owned it. Haha.

SO. MUCH. BETTER.
This is super nice because it's a gel, it doesn't foam up a ton, therefore, doesn't get into my eyes.
But it still works really nice with my Clarisonic. My face always smells really nice after my morning shower, and the scent wakes me up!

But! Overall, this actually has two ratings!!
Without the Clarisonic, I would only rate it a 5/10. If you don't like abrasive scrubs, then you'd like this.
The smell is amazing though, and definitely makes it worth while.
But with the Clarisonic, I'd rate it a 10/10. It's just amazing and really helps clear up my skin!

It's still a good product, just not for me.
If you've tried this product, make sure to let me know your thoughts on it. :3

How to Make Money!!!

Hey everyone!!!

I know as a kid, I was always broke. I also wasn't one of those kids that got an allowance, so getting $10 every few months was extremely exciting for me, as was coming across the random dollar.

Judging by the title, I'm sure you can all easily guess what this blog post is about; making money.
Some ways are easier than others.
And I know that most of my readers are probably more in their teenage years, so I thought this could be a cool and funky blog post to do!!!

You might not be able to do everything on this list, but I'm sure at least one of these will work for you. :3

  1. Babysit! This is a great way to earn some money, and it's relatively easy as well. I'm not a professional babysitter, and never advertised my services, but this would be a pretty good idea to do! I mainly just babysat for my family and neighbours, or when my sister wasn't able to do it, again, I would fill in for her. I never really charged a certain amount, but I was never disappointed. Just make sure not to take on too many kids.
  2. Lemonade stand! This is a really adorable idea. It might be a little late for this one, but you could even have a hot chocolate stand if you wanted in the winter. :3 Don't expect to make hundreds off this, but if you have a little sibling or someone wanting to make money, help them out with this.
  3. Sell things! I know in my closet, there's a bunch of things I never use, don't need, and totally forgot I had!!! My city has a Facebook page for selling things that you don't want, and it's actually pretty cool. I've been able to sell old video games on it easily, and jewelry that I've never worn. Otherwise kijiji or eBay would be another great place to sell online!
  4. Help out around the house! Start helping out your parents around the house. When I really wanted money, I helped with the dishes and vacuumed the living room, or cleaned the stairs really well. When my mom saw how hard I worked, she would give me a little bit of money.
  5. Apply for a job! Obviously you have to be a certain age to apply for a job, depending where you're applying. But this is probably one of the best ways to make money. If you're in school, apply for a part time job for nights and/or weekends.
  6. Odd jobs! You probably know a few people that would like to have their sidewalk shovelled, their grass cut, their gutters cleaned out, or maybe even their garage cleaned. This is always a really good thing to do, and it's really good to put on a resume.
  7. Bake sale! Just like a lemonade stand, but with baked goods! Everyone loves homemade desserts. This is a really good idea for a fundraiser too. Just make sure you have plenty of goods and an awesome location.
  8. Walk the neighbourhood dogs! This would probably actually go with #6, but hey. :p A lot of people don't have the time to walk their dogs, and this is actually a bonus if you're wanting to get a dog of your own. You get to spend time with a cute dog while getting in some exercise.

I hope this helps you all out in making a little bit of spending money.
I'll try to make up a Cute Things on Ebay part 3 post soon too! :3

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Today I'm going to be doing a review on the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes!
Neutrogena was nice enough to send me a few samples of their products, and a coupon for this item.
I was extremely excited to try out the wipes, because I love trying out new makeup removing wipes! It took a while for me to actually buy them, because without the coupon, they were as high as $13! Which is extremely ridiculous considering you only get 25 wipes in a package. I'm used to getting 60 wipes for $3, so this was just a huge annoyance.
Luckily I found them on sale for $9, and used the coupon to save myself $5, making it so I only spent $4 on them.

I had heard so many good things about the Neutrogena face wipes, so I was pretty excited when they sent me a coupon, along with other various items.
I really like the smell of pink grapefruit, which made me even more excited.
These wipes are also for acne prone skin, which I have.
I figured I could use these after I ran out of my Epielle Green Tea Cleansing Tissues, as they're easier to find.

(i can't even take a proper picture)
But they're the same as most of my cleansing wipes as far as opening them goes. They just seal shut after, nothing fancy. Another reason why I like my Epielle wipes, they have a snapping lid.

Again, they look like every other makeup wipe, nothing fancy.
As far as makeup goes, I do wear quite a bit of coverup to conceal my acne scars since they're pretty bad. So I wanted to see how good they took off my makeup.

They actually did a pretty good job of taking off my makeup. Even my lipstick came off pretty smoothly. I had to use a lip scrub after to get the rest off, but that's not a problem.

Like I said, one of the reasons I was so excited about these is because of the scent they had.
For the past month, I've been using a pink grapefruit scrub from another brand and really liked how it smelled. So I thought these would smell the same.
Nope!
You can smell the pink grapefruit no problem, but the scent is WAY too strong. My eyes were actually watering from using these because of the smell.
Yes, they did a good job of taking off my makeup, but I can easily find much cheaper face wipes that do the same job that don't bother me.

I'm usually not sensitive to smells, ever, but this is the first time this has happened.

Judging by that, we can all assume my rating it going to be bad. But what is it?
A 3/10.
They're ridiculously expensive, especially for the amount you get. And the smell is way too much.
I'll use up the rest of these if I can, otherwise I'll pass them onto someone else. But I definitely won't be repurchasing these, ever.

Rimmel Stay Matte: Pressed Powder Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Today I'm going to be reviewing an item that I use every day, for obvious reasons. :3

This is my first Rimmel London product. I bought it on a whim one day after hearing a bunch of people rave about it.
As we all know, my skin is extremely oily, so I definitely wanted to give this a go.
It was about $7 at Walmart, which is pretty good in my opinion.

I couldn't find my shade when I bought it. No surprise there.
I think I got the next shade up, but as far as I can see, there was absolutely no difference. It's a pretty translucent powder.
The one pictured above is a brand new one that I haven't even opened yet.

Here's the one that I've been obviously using. As you can see, I've hit pan.
This actually lasted not as long as I thought, but for the price, it's not a big deal.
I think I've had it for about two and a half months, using it every day. Which actually isn't that bad, but for some reason I thought it would last forever.
Whatever.
I use my ELF Total Face Brush to apply this, and it works awesome!
When you first open the product, it's a pressed powder. But after you swirl your brush in there (or tap it. whatever floats your boat) little pieces kind of fly up. It can be a little messy. I usually have a little bit of this on my work jeans I find, but it's easy enough to dust away.

I put it over my tattoo to show you guys how it looks on skin.
If you're planning on using this powder to cover up, not a good idea. It doesn't have any coverage, but that's what concealer and foundations are for.
But the name is extremely fitting. It keeps my face looking matte for a good eight hours. By then, I'm done work and able to reapply if needed.

I really like this powder though. It doesn't keep me matte all day, but I wasn't expecting it to, nor do I expect any product to do so.
But I definitely recommend this if you wanted to try something to help set your makeup!

Overall, I would rate this product a solid 9/10.
The only reason this doesn't get a perfect ten, is because it does make a little bit of a mess and I feel like that's wasted product, but it doesn't make a huge difference.

Ipsy GlamBag: August 2013!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Recently I signed up to become an Ipsy Glambag member, and just received my second bag! It completely slipped my mind to do a post for my first one, but not this time!

In the future, I'll be doing reviews on the products as I use them.
But for now, I'll show what I got!

First off, the bag is pretty adorable. I never really see myself using the bags as I have a huge makeup train case, but maybe they'll be good for putting future giveaway prizes in!

These are all the products they gave out. There were a couple items that each member received differently.

The item on the far left is the Pixi Lash Booster Mascara.
The brand is something I've just heard of recently, which comes to a huge shock to a lot of people.
Every Pixi product I've come across has the same type of packaging. Light green and a metallic bronze colour with the logo. I'm actually a huge fan of the packing though, it's adorable!
I'm also extremely excited that they sent me a mascara this month. I love trying out new mascaras, and sample sizes are the best because I don't feel horrible if I don't use it all.

The obnoxious pink round circle is obviously a NYX blush.
NYX is a pretty popular brand that mostly everyone has heard of, I'm sure. I own a majority of their jumbo eye pencils and a lip gloss, but that's it.
The blush they sent me is actually a cream blush, which I'm a little nervous to try to be honest. I only own one powder blush, a liquid blush and a cheek stain. So I guess this kind of completes the set.
I'm a complete noob, and couldn't find the name of the colour they sent, but I'll look harder when I do an actual review.
I'm pretty excited to try this though.

And just above the blush, is a mini Urban Decay lip stick in Anarchy. I believe the other colour they sent out was 69, or something like that. I wasn't too thrilled about either, as I'm a little bit hesitant to wear lipsticks ever, because I find they always transfer and leave a weird filmy gunk on my lips.
But the colour for this is absolutely gorgeous! And it's a mini one, smaller than my pinky.
It's going to be adorable to travel with.

The little tube dude in the pink packaging is the Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream. The packaging is pretty cute though.
I've never tried anything from Pacifica, and never even seen anything of theirs in stores. So maybe they're a high end product?
I've only ever heard of them having a body butter that tons of people always raved about. So I'm hoping this is a good product.
And hopefully matches my skin tone. ;3

And the final product is the one I was extremely excited for. This one was one of their 'one or the other' products.
The Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub!! And I love the packing for it too. I'm a huge fan of pastels, which this company obviously has.
For the past few months, it seems every youtube beauty blogger has tried at least one of these products out, and I felt completely out of the loop.
The products are pretty pricey on the website, so when I saw this on the Ipsy list of items for this month, I basically flipped a chair.

The only thing I was bummed about this month was that I didn't receive the Smashbox Primer, but the Michael Todd product makes up for that easily.

And for those of you that don't already know, Ipsy is a monthly subscription service where you pay $10 a month and receive 4-5 products in return.
I don't think I was disappointed at all this month.

If you want to sign up for Ipsy, you can do so here

50 Weightloss Tips!!!

Hey everyone!!!

So today, instead of doing my usual review, I wanted to do something a little different.
A weightloss tip post!!

As a former anorexic, I know that starving yourself is not the answer to losing weight. In the long run, you can end up gaining more weight than you started at.
So without further delay, let's just jump right into the post!!

  1. Lots of fruit and vegetables! (but more veggies)
  2. Ditch the sugary soft drinks and start drinking more water.
  3. Stand when possible vs sitting like a potato.
  4. Park farther away. Especially if it's nice out. The fresh air is good for you, and the few extra steps aren't gonna kill ya.
  5. Remember to treat yourself. If you restrict yourself for the rest of your life, you know you're not gonna wanna do it.
  6. Don't eat after eight. The food that you eat won't have time to do anything, so it just turns into fat. But if you have to eat something, make sure it's something light.
  7. Make sure to drink lots of water! It helps to fill you up faster, and a lot of the time when you think you're hungry, you're really just thirsty. :3
  8. Take the stairs when possible vs the elevator. WORK DAT BOOTY.
  9. Make sure you eat breakfast!! It's the most important meal of the day and keeps your metabolism going.
  10. Cut down on sugar. A lot of the time when I'm buying snacks, I look to make sure it has 10g of sugar or less. :3
  11. Don't eat out all the time! This should be self explanatory.
  12. Plan meals ahead of time. This helps you so when you're buying groceries, you're not buying a bunch of things you don't need.
  13. Try to eat lots of fibre. It helps keep you regular, and fills you up faster.
  14. Eat smaller portions. You can always go back for seconds if you're still starving.
  15. Use bright coloured plates. It helps you see your food and not just take everything in.
  16. Put your fork down while you chew. Your body takes around 15 minutes to realize that it's full, so a lot of the time you just overfeed yourself.
  17. After you plate up, put the leftovers away to avoid any temptation.
  18. Ditch all those fruit juices. They're loaded with sugar.
  19. If you can't handle just plain water, add lemons to it. It helps clean your body from the inside out, and it's good for your skin too. Yay!!
  20. Ride your bike to work/school if it's close. It's really good for your booty and whatnot.
  21. DON'T SKIP MEALS YA LITTLE TURD! Skipping meals only makes you eat more later on.
  22. Be productive, and stay that way! When you're sitting at home all day, online, you get bored and start snacking. Om nom nom.
  23. Use kid sized plates. The bigger the plate, the more food you pile on it.
  24. Get a pedometer and start using it. I try to aim for at least 10,000 steps each day.
  25. When ordering a salad from a restaurant, ask for the dressing on the side. You usually don't need it all, and they'll just glob it on.
  26. Don't watch TV when you eat. You lose focus and eat way too much.
  27. Watch out for those annoying 'fat-free' items. They usually contain a ton more sugar to keep the flavour.
  28. Hot soups are your best friend. Hot liquids fill you up faster. :3
  29. When you're eating any type of meat, your portion should be no larger than your closed fist.
  30. Again, eat your breakfast! You have a better chance of losing weight because it keeps you from snacking all day. I like having two pieces of multigrain toast with jam. :3
  31. Pound out your meat. (well that sounds weird...) it helps to relieve stress and makes the meat go a longer way.
  32. If you live with someone also trying to lose weight, pack each others lunches! It's a nice little surprise.
  33. Eat lots of celery and watermelon. They both contain lots of water, and you burn more calories eating them than you gain.
  34. If you're having a sandwich at a restaurant, ditch the mayo, cheese and top bun. You just saved yourself 250 calories.
  35. Halfway through your meal, wait thirty seconds to see if you're still hungry.
  36. After meals, brush your teeth. This helps to deter you from snacking.
  37. When you're grocery shopping, stay on the outer rim. This is where all the good things are. The aisles only contain junk.
  38. Keep a food journal. You can write down the meals you really enjoyed so you can use those as motivation.
  39. Remember you're not going to lose the weight instantly. It takes time.
  40. Eat more veggies than fruit. Fruit are still good for you, but they do have sugar still.
  41. Go for walks after a meal. It helps amp your metabolism up.
  42. Don't let mean people get to you on a run. Just remember, you're running and losing weight while they stand there and look like douchebags.
  43. Find a buddy and work out with them.
  44. Go for walks/runs! You don't need fancy equipment to lose weight.
  45. Not trying to be creepy, but when you weigh yourself, take off your clothes. You'd be surprise how much they can weigh.
  46. Find music that helps you get pumped up.
  47. One of my favourite things to do, is to crank my favourite music at the time and dance like a crazy person! You wouldn't believe how much you can sweat from that.
  48. If you're hungry but feel like you've already eaten a lot, veggies are your best friends! Eat unlimited veggies, because they're good for you.
  49. If you feel uncomfortable working out in public, buy a jump rope and hoola hoop and do it in an open area!
  50. And last but not least, I leave you with a quote;
A moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips.

Shake The Lake!!!

Hey everyone!!!

So over the weekend, I went away and went to Sylvan Lake, where an event called Shake The Lake was held! I made sure to take a bunch of pictures to remember the moment, and to share with you guys!
So let's just jump right into it!

Just before we left. It was a four hour drive, so I didn't want to be wearing lots of makeup or anything.

For most of the ride, it was actually really gloomy. I thought for sure it would rain.

This was our view for about 3/4 of the trip. It got boring after a while :c

It was still kinda gloomy but it was starting to get nicer as we got closer to our destination. :3

We stopped at Calgary and went into Forever 21. The dressing rooms were so cute!!

When we went to the mall, we stopped and got lunch. I got fries since I'm in love with fries. Nom!!

For whatever reason, I decided to take a picture of the mall we went to.
It's the CrossIron Mills mall, just in case you were wondering.

While my sister was checking out other stores, I made my way to LUSH, aka my favourite store ever!!

We also needed to stop for gas, since it was a four hour drive there.

My mini LUSH haul. I was running low on my Tea Tree Water, so I got the large one and they gave me two samples. :3
I got the Herbalism Face Cleanser and the Grease Lightning Face Treatment.

We finally got to our hotel room at 6.
It was smaller than I thought though.

I was in flip flops all day, but it was annoying to run around in them so I changed into my converse. I only packed two pairs of shoes.

One of the guys playing on Friday night, Bryan Finlay!
He was really sweet and nice. :3
(here's his twitter)

The last band of the night was Hey Ocean! They were really good. It was kinda hard to hear her voice over the band though, but what I did hear was really good!!!

I snapped another picture, but yeah. Same thing. :p
We went back to our hotel right after and crashed.

We had bought groceries the day before just so we weren't eating out.
We had chocolate cheerios for breakfast and it was soooo yummy.

The bands didn't start playing until 2:30, so we had time to wander around.
It was so gorgeous at Sylvan Lake! It was hard leaving. :c

After walking down by the water for a while, we saw this!!
I didn't even know this existed, but it looked really cool!

This was the first band of the day that played. I don't remember exactly, but I think their name was Forester, or something like that. :3 They were pretty good too.

They were giving out free waters, so my sister and I got some. I got the Acai Blue Pom flavour, and it's so good!! I'm a little addicted to this now.

We missed the first song they played, but this is FLTF! I always mess up their name, but this time I made sure to get it right. They were really nice, and we got to chat with them after their set.

This was the last band before they had a break for everything.
Halfway to Hollywood was really good, and they even did a cover of Allstar Weekend which I really enjoyed.
The lead singer was really cute and we're friends on facebook and twitter. :3

I got a picture snapped with Halfway to Hollywood. Can we just take a minute to enjoy my awkwardness?
I don't remember their names, but they were really sweet. :3

I had my hair up all day, but our friends were coming to play, so I wanted to look somewhat decent for them, so we went back to the hotel and I curled my hair.

Totally missed pictures of basically every other band BUT LOOK IT'S PHAO.

I got a lot of pictures of Phao, mainly of the singer, Mike.
He's such a babe. fgjsfgsklaf

And here we have Mike taking a video of us.
I don't have words to express anything anymore.

By the way, these were our friends that we knew were coming for sure, so we wanted to look good.
From left to right, we have Louis, Kevin, Dosso, MEEEEE, and Mike.
Look at how he's holding me.
AWE.

My sister got pictures too, and made me want a silly face picture. Which resulted in Mike eating my head.

And then because I'm a mega dork, I wanted the boys of Phao to sign my phone case.
It's kinda hard to see their autographs, especially Dosso's.
When he signed it though, he asked "Can I sign this really obnoxiously?"

That was our trip to Shake the Lake, in Sylvan Lake, in picture form!!
It was absolutely one of the best weekends of my life, and I'm already super stoked for it next year!
It was so beautiful, and if you're anywhere near the area, I definitely recommend going next year. :3 And maybe we'll all see each other!
