Rimmel Stay Matte: Pressed Powder Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Today I'm going to be reviewing an item that I use every day, for obvious reasons. :3

This is my first Rimmel London product. I bought it on a whim one day after hearing a bunch of people rave about it.
As we all know, my skin is extremely oily, so I definitely wanted to give this a go.
It was about $7 at Walmart, which is pretty good in my opinion.

I couldn't find my shade when I bought it. No surprise there.
I think I got the next shade up, but as far as I can see, there was absolutely no difference. It's a pretty translucent powder.
The one pictured above is a brand new one that I haven't even opened yet.

Here's the one that I've been obviously using. As you can see, I've hit pan.
This actually lasted not as long as I thought, but for the price, it's not a big deal.
I think I've had it for about two and a half months, using it every day. Which actually isn't that bad, but for some reason I thought it would last forever.
Whatever.
I use my ELF Total Face Brush to apply this, and it works awesome!
When you first open the product, it's a pressed powder. But after you swirl your brush in there (or tap it. whatever floats your boat) little pieces kind of fly up. It can be a little messy. I usually have a little bit of this on my work jeans I find, but it's easy enough to dust away.

I put it over my tattoo to show you guys how it looks on skin.
If you're planning on using this powder to cover up, not a good idea. It doesn't have any coverage, but that's what concealer and foundations are for.
But the name is extremely fitting. It keeps my face looking matte for a good eight hours. By then, I'm done work and able to reapply if needed.

I really like this powder though. It doesn't keep me matte all day, but I wasn't expecting it to, nor do I expect any product to do so.
But I definitely recommend this if you wanted to try something to help set your makeup!

Overall, I would rate this product a solid 9/10.
The only reason this doesn't get a perfect ten, is because it does make a little bit of a mess and I feel like that's wasted product, but it doesn't make a huge difference.

Small Makeup Haul!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Today after work, I went to Shoppers to do a little bit of makeup shopping. I was running out of a few things, and wanted to try some things. And I went on the right day!!!
By the way, if you don't know what Shoppers is, it's a drug store. So it has a bunch of stuff.
It's usually overpriced in my opinion, but I was there anyways, and everything I bought was on sale!! :3

Here's everything I bought!
Just ignore my makeup case and empty tissue box. :p I ran out this morning and that was probably one of the things I should've hauled.
But moving on!!!

The first thing I went for was Rimmel's Stay Matte powder, as I hit pan on mine.
I got my actual shade this time vs a totally weird shade that's too dark for me!
I bought two of these, because they're normally $7 at Walmart, but they were on sale for $5 each!! So I snagged two of them up. I probably would've gotten more, but they were running really low.
This is my favourite powder to use, and I definitely recommend it.

The next thing I got is the new Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick.
I've been seeing people rave about this, and I tested it out a few times in stores, and it always seemed really interesting. Plus I love anything from the Maybelline New York line.
I of course, got the lightest shade.
It felt really nice on my hand when I tested it, so I'm excited to see how it'll hold up on my face. :3

The next thing I got was the Quo Duo Ended Concealer, in the lightest shade. As per usual.
This is something I've been using for quite a while, and definitely one of my favourite concealers.
It's about $16 for one of these, but they do last a while and cover up well!
It has a stick side which I prefer, but it also has a liquid side that I like to use when I'm wearing bb creams or liquid foundations.
Quo is owned by Shoppers, I believe. But you can probably find it online somewhere if you don't have a Shoppers in your area. :3

And the last thing I bought was my favourite foundation ever, the Maybelline New York Dream Matte Mousse foundation!
I hit pan on the one I'm using, so I figured I might as well grab one before I ran out. They finally had my shade on sale, now that everyones tan and doesn't use it.
Well, not everyone. ;)
This foundation gives amazing coverage and holds up pretty good in the heat. I'm really happy I was able to find my shade!

That's everything I bought today, and I'm pretty happy with everything I got.
I was going to get some makeup removing wipes too, as I have a coupon for some thanks to Neutrogena, but they didn't have the kind I wanted, so I'll wait for another day.

ELF Total Face Brush Review!!!

Hey everyone!!!

I'm going to be reviewing the ELF Total Face Brush today, and I have to admit right now that I'm in love with this, so much, that I own two of them!!

I ordered one of these online and I bought the other at my local dollar store. These brushes were I believe $1-$1.50 each, which isn't bad at all. This is the cheapest I've ever paid for a makeup brush!

When you purchase one of these, from anywhere, they come with the plastic cover that the right one has on it. I kept them so they don't lose their shape when I'm travelling. I hate when my brushes are all bent and weird looking.

When I first got one, I had the genius idea to use it with a liquid foundation.
Never do that!
I thought because it was a 'total face brush' I could. Um, wrong. It's not for liquid foundations. I think I'm the only one that would do that.
So I washed it after, getting rid of all the makeup just chilling on it. Thank goodness.

I've heard of people using these for their powders, blushes and bronzers. But I already have brushes specifically for blushes and bronzers, so I only use these for powders.
The reason I have two is because I have four powders. Two are white/pastel and two are skin tone, so I didn't like the idea of mixing them. I easily could and it wouldn't make a difference, but I wanted to be difficult.

They work amazing for powdering my face. It's easy enough to just swirl this in my powder then all over my face. I love these brushes, and actually want more, even though I have no use for more.
Yet.
;)

I found they did shed on me the first few uses, but after I washed them, the shedding mainly stopped. I occasionally get the random stray hair, but it's nothing major.
I try to wash them every two to three weeks to help prevent the shedding, and just to keep them clean.

It's really gross because after three weeks, they don't really look that bad, but when I wash them, after just one I have to change the water because it's already disgusting looking.
Eww.

I found that the first few uses, brand new and after washing are the best as these are extremely soft on my skin.
After about a week of using them everyday, they aren't as soft. Don't get me wrong, they're still extremely nice on the face, and it doesn't feel like you're putting powder on with a sword, but they're not as soft as they used to be.
But again, after you wash them, good as new!!

I just wash them with baby shampoo right after I use them so they have 24 hours to fully dry. These ones are bigger than the rest of my makeup brushes, so they do take a little longer to dry.

Overall; I would rate the ELF Total Face Brush a 9/10.
The only flaw being the very rare shedding and the not so soft after a week feeling, but that's easily solved by washing them.
This might actually be a good thing because that's what reminds me that I need to wash my makeup brushes. :c
